Key Stage 2
Key stage two lasts for four years (Y3, Y4, Y5 & Y6) and ends when the children transfer to secondary school at the age of eleven. In May of their final year children are assessed by their teachers and by national tests in English, mathematics and science. Results are reported to parents with the child’s annual report. In addition parents are given an assessment of the child’s ability in English and mathematics at the end of Y4.
Children in this key stage study the subjects of the national curriculum and religious education. There is much more teaching in traditional subjects in this key stage although some subjects will still be linked together as “topics”.
At Lostock Hall children are grouped into three classes; year 3/4, year 4/5 and a dedicated year 6.
